As far as we are concerned, it is of course the best thing to grow your own cacao tree! We think the whole process of germinating, growing and blooming is wonderful to see and we wish you that too. We therefore encourage you to grow your own cacao tree and explain how to make the cacao seeds bloom.
The best place
The seeds of the cacao tree germinate best in an environment of at least 25 degrees Celsius. keep them dark during the germination, but possibly on the windowsill just above the heating. Find a nice spot where you can keep the soil moist every day and where you have a good view of the development of your cacao seeds.
*(Tip) Use a propagator or heat mat for germination. You will see that cacao can be kept in the living room as long as the temperature remains above 18 degrees, otherwise your seedling will not make it.
How do you sow cacao seeds?
Remove the white pulp around the seeds completely! This is a slippery job but you will become handy at it. Then rub the seeds dry with a cloth to make sure everything is well removed. Put the seeds with the thicker side (the side with the white tip) down in the soil, make sure that a piece of the top sticks out of the sowing medium. We recommend sowing in seed and cutting soil or coco peat. we do use Mediterranean potting soil, which molds less quickly. It is important to know that cacao seeds have a short germination and they should absolutely not dry out. It is therefore very important to sow quickly and to keep the soil moist but not too wet, as they will go mouldy. A PH of 5.7 is fine for the Theobroma Cacao.
